This is what has been going on with my profile
I am preparing myself for the upcoming changes and a writing onslaught
--
If you are one of my regular readers, you may have wondered what has been going on with my profile. It began with my brief bio, followed by a series of lists. I wasn’t just being lazy, I was implementing a way to organise my work. (I was also being lazy.)
Medium has been going through a series of changes recently, and I intend to focus on writing a lot more here in the immediate future.
Before that happens, I thought it would be a good idea to get organised. The problem is that I write in quite a few niches and have had a few stories go viral (the three in the picture all have over 30,000 reads, for example). The viral stories had peaked and were slowly sinking to obscurity. Something needed to be done.
I read a great idea for doing an index from Paul Ryburn, M.Sc. He talks about it in this article:
Part of the process is grouping your better articles into niches and then sticking a post at the top of your feed with links to your good stuff. It’s a great idea, but while making the lists, I may have come across as either lazy or odd.
I assure you it is a bit of both. But there is a method to the madness. Assuming you don’t read this in the next hour or two, you will see the shiny new Index at the top of the page.
From now on, it will be business as normal. Thanks for bearing with me.
