About Me — Jason Ward
Journalist, writer, author
Writing about myself feels a tad vain. But it comes highly recommended by people like Dr Mehmet Yildiz and others, so here we go.
I was born in Hong Kong in the 70s and educated in the UK. I’m English/Irish/Australian and have residency in Hong Kong. I currently live in Bangkok.
My first job was ‘Reporter’ for Fragrant Harbour Magazine in Hong Kong in 1990 when I was 18. My last job was ‘Senior Content Writer’ for a university in Bangkok when I was… older. The pay went up, but the job title definitely feels a step down.
In between, and for the last few years, I have worked as a freelance writer in Hong Kong, London, Sydney, and Bangkok. Over the years, I’ve worked as a news journalist and editor, travel writer, book reviewer, computer game and technology writer, author, and- Well, you get the picture. I write stuff.
If you are interested (or need a writer), I have a portfolio of non-Medium work here: https://jasonwardwriter.com/index.php/portfolio/
I also have a couple of really short books out that are a mix of non-fiction and science fiction. Have a look here: https://jasonwardwriter.com/index.php/my-books/
On Medium, I have written numerous viral stories (20k+ views) and a plethora of other well-received pieces. It’s a fun place to write. I tend to write about history, culture, science and anything else that interests me. I currently average around 3–5 articles a month but plan to increase that dramatically. Or if that plan fails, then at least a little bit.

I think that’s enough self-promotion for now. Have a fantastic day.
